With the Gibbon only a few days away, we are nearing the hotly anticipated commencement of the 2009 Tour and as previously indicated the Board have been considering a number of key tweaks to the Constitution during the winter break – One of these relates to the basis on which Ranking Points are awarded and the weighting between the Minors, Majors and the Claret Jug Weekend and another other relates to a handicap mechanic allowing the increase of handicaps…., to encourage attendance at all tour events and not to overly penalise those who play regularly, which you will be pleased to know is overly convoluted and involves the Captain working out whose Stapleforth points, for each individual tournament are below 1 standard deviation from the mean – Which I am sure you will all agree is just the sort of complexity the GS aspires to….

Other changes include: The minium constituent parts of an allowable Match Report, the Prize for the OoM winner, Membership, Voting rights at the AGM and the make up of the Board. I have attached a summary of all the changes for you all to digest. We will also announce the definitive Society countback rules before the Gibbon, when we can agreed on what they are….
