Saturday 20th March – Gibbon Invitational 2010

After a long and cold winter it was really good to have the WHV tour back on our minds. Can Nozzle retain his title, who’s the big dog and will there be anymore cries of “Noz out, vote Ron”? Well the first event of the year was held at the Shirley Golf Club. A club we had heard of but never played which was strange as most of us lived less than 5 miles away. The TD has to be thanked for organising the day, even through it rained non stop and the first 4 holes were like playing in a farmers field, it was a good course and a very enjoyable day. As for the golf I think we can fairly say that most of the 11 who played were a bit rusty from the winter lay off. I seemed to have found some form hence winning but I think that was more the lack of good golf from the rest of the field especially as the Pres had it all wrapped up with 4 holes to go but then didn’t score any more points (back to his old ways then?). Well done to Butters for winning his first WHV prize, you Shark. The results for the day were:-

1st place            –           Bruce    – 32 points
2nd place            –           Ron      – 29 points
3rd place            –           Butters – 28 points
Big Dog             –           Bruce
Shark                –           Butters

So the 2010 tour has kicked of and it promises to be the best season yet. I think this year, more than another other year, everyone has a realistic chance of winning the order of merit. So I hope everyone makes themselves available for all events. See you all at the Spittle Shield on the 17th April, I’m off to get some food!!
