The TD has sent through the details of the season curtain raiser – hopefully the early holes will be less reminiscent of WWI battlefields. I’ve made a little box on the homepage to keep track of who has said they’re playing and who isn’t.

First tee time 11.00am – Coffee and bacon sarnies on arrival
18 holes of full WHVGS handicap stapleforth golf (seems a bit redundant – Editor)
Butters to officially start the 2011 WHVGS tour by playing the first shot of the day with the WHVGS spoon
Cost to include coffee, sarnie, entrance fee, annual membership subs and golf – 40 lads per boy (30 lads for The TD and The Pres in lieu of prompt membership subs payment)
Prize structure
Winner – 10 lads & The Gibbon Invitational Cap (Wow, a whole tenner and a three year old sweaty hat!)
Runner-up – 5 lads
Longest Drive – 5 lads
Nearest the pin – 5 lads
Straightest drive – custody of the WHVGS Swiss Beer Stein until the next Gibbon (with the obligation to consume all booze intake from such during the Celtic Manor festivities)
Lowest stapleforth score on the day – the obligation to attempt to chin (in one) the contents of the WHVGS foot and a half in the clubhouse following the event
Post-event sauce up – the Grandfather of Ibiza’s 40th (yes 40th) birthday celebrations
