Lots of Handicap Action after the High Scoring Brissle

The President has guessed that the Brissle might be the highest scoring WHV Event in history – something I can prove (at least in the WD era) a little later.

What has transpired is that good playing by a number of people has seen their handicaps move in the right direction;

  • Woolly, as winner and assembling the joint highest stapleforth score in WHV history has lost three shots and will be off 24, in the massive silly orange the next time we see him
  • Adam, who put together an excellent morning round of nearly 50 points, and an afternoon of just about 40 points, has crept one stroke closer to his target of 28 – he’s now off 30
  • The President has turned in a good card, much to his relief, stepping away from joining Pete in Cat Z, and is now off 25
  • And your Captain was pleased and frustrated by his round of 40 – a couple of chunked wedges and a missed 18 inch putt took the sheen off breaking 80 for the first time in twenty years (around a proper track, Widney doesn’t count), and because my winning penalty from the last Brissle remains in place until after the next event, I’m down to 11
  • On the other side of the coin, the cruelly handicapped sponsor, who has abandoned golf in favour of skinsuits and looking at the arses of other men bent over in skinsuits, has got one back on the field, going up to 12 – just another 12 or so to go before he is competitive again – probably just in time for Harry to beat him at the 2027 Brissle
  • And as the loudest complainer about handicapping, our current Green Jacket wearer (did anyone notice it yesterday?) had an average day, notching 31 points, which means his collection of cards and his WHV Open penalty in the system have given him an extra stroke to ‘nurse’ round events – he’ll be off 15 from now on

That only really leaves Big Nelly as the question, he’s been in contention for the last two Stapleforth events, and absolutely mullered the morning par 3 with way over 50 points – scoring close to 100 in a single day. His 42 points don’t appear to be enough to click his 26 down yet – there have been some poor performances in the past to balance that 42. But he will start to come down.

Only the winner gets handicap penalties at the next event, the Captain’s Matchplay, I will be posting details of that event shortly.

One quick question to Pedro though – as Ron is now -0.5, will the PedroUSGA VBA solution move him to +1? I can’t think we’ve had a coding oversight on something so personally motivating!
