This is how to do it…
So the CJ weekend 2018 begins. The forecast reporting all week has been suggesting that storm Callum was going to ensure that we were going to be playing in some wet and windy conditions.
The advance party of Pete and Aust set off on Thursday evening with the remaining of the players who were playing the Amy Austin at Hoylake (Royal Liverpool golf club) setting off on the Friday am for an 11.00 tee time. On the way the Cat and I passed a 5 car pile up and a car hitting a lorry due to the weather conditions but we managed to arrive in time with everyone else and ordered a full breakfast on a batch !!.
Time to tee off and the green jacket holder and organiser Mike throws the balls up to sort out the groups. Which were 1.Noz , little Nelly, juice and Woolley. 2 Donk , the Cat , Jiminez, 3.Prez, Hugh , Pedro and me. 4 Millers, Pk his mate, Aust and Mike
The wind was howling but it seemed to be keeping the rain away. Club selection was an exercise in its self. The starter gave us all some tips and info and we were off with Noz teeing off first and running it along the floor but at least in play.
I have been informed Woolley had a bit of fun in a bunker where he hit the face on shot one and it returned to him the same with his 2nd attempt so he picked it up and threw it and it still rolled back into the bunker at his feet!! Noz also had trouble with his female driver half way round leaning on it to reload on the tea and snap the club was in two leaving him with only his 5 wood to attempt to Dog.
Anyway in our group Pete suggests a small side bet and so the Prez and I team up against Pete and Hugh. I have a steady front 9 managing to lag up all my puts to within a foot and hole out scoring 20 points, Peter has had a number of blobs managing 8 points, the Prez 12 points and Hugh playing of 8 has 14 points but was unlucky not to have scored more after a couple of what looked good drives only for us not to be able to find his ball.
The back 9 was still as tough with the wind potentially increasing but the sun also trying to come out. I managed to continue in the same vein and dispite losing a ball on one hole managed to complete the round without a blob but a few 1 pointers and scored 18 on the back 9 giving me a total of 38 points and the win. In 2nd place winning on the countback with 33 points was
Little Nelley from Jiminez (Tom) 3rd and despite no driver Noz in 4th.
Winning the shark with lovely shot was Aust and winning the Dog with a monster approx 315 yard drive according to the Cat was Jiminez.
Well done all and Mike for a great course selection.
