The PEDRO masters will be held on Saturday 17th September.

•     Can you please confirm your attendance by Friday; 4 tee-times are reserved for now – I need to confirm Friday.
•     Can you also let me know if you’ll be staying over the night so I can source the “best” accomodation.

 1. From I Hall, Avon – “Will it be at some Lake Happy Corporate Venue? I do so hate traditional parkland & links golf.”

Of Course it will you Idiot, the golf will be played at Hellidon Lakes in Daventry (http://www.qhotels.co.uk/hotels/hellidon-lakes-daventry.aspx)

 2. From C Gregory, W Mids – “Will I have to bring my own bacon roll?”

Of course not TD, that would be ridiculous. Bacon Roll & coffee will be served from 11 o’clock for an 11.40 tee-off

3. From C Lanman, W Mids – “Do they serve catfood in tomato sauce?”

  There will be pie and chips for lunch afterwards. Unfortunately Curt I cannot guarantee they serve that particular filling.

Of course it does Beggles. PEDRO Power are sponsoring it and all of the above will cost you £35.

    Don’t be daft son. You will also have to provide the TD with a tenner for competition entry.

   Well Mike, the PEDRO Master is the Money event of the tour. Thw winner will recieve the cash usually reserved for 1st and 2nd place combined. (At the AGM, if you attend it, obviously).

That’s correct Steve – the PEDRO Power operates a unique fines-for-second-place formula, with a maximum total fine of £5 per player. This pot you can take home on the day if you’re 2nd.

Noz – this is sponsored by PEDRO Power, so of course not. There’s the £5 per nearest the pin in the final fourball for a start. You know, when the 3 players who have bet the most with PEDRO Power play Pedro as the last fourball of the day? Well any of those 3 could win an extra five pounds per hole.

9. From S Harrison, W Mids – “So apart from winning bets at generous prices, I could pick up £25 even if I finish last?”

And that’s not all Donk. Due to the outraged feedback at the Captain’s matchplay not actually being a matchplay event, PEDRO Power will further be sponsoring a free-to enter post event matchplay simulator to the tune of £20 to the winner.

Mainly down to generosity of Pedropower and the innovative format devised by the Prof, the masters sees more money changing hands than would please Jesus.

Unfortunately, this year’s event saw Ron take a resounding win and quite a few quid for his backers.

I managed to clear £40 from an inspired gamble based on the unique format of the day. My only question was which of the members would buckle the most under the pressure of specific challenges not to miss a putt or not go in the water. The overall results will follow but suffice to say that getting the pres at 8/1 was too good a price to miss.

Sure enough, 4 shots into the drink on the last covered my costs for the day. Thanks Doug.

From the Captain:

• No on line course guide so no opportunity to decide fine holes yet, or draw a dodgy beard. 4rse.
• Pedro Power will award £5 for each nearest the pin within the final fourball. This is £25. Prizes roll over if no player on the green.
• The final fourball is contested by Pedro and the three persons who have bet the most with Pedro Power on the day. These bets will be private and no person will have a view of how much other people have bet, although no doubt they will be able to determine where the bets have gone by the odds board. Betting period will be time-bound
• Pedro Power will further award £20 to the bogeyman (or split between the bogeymen). These are the people with the most net bogeys (1 pointers) on their card (hence the bogey column on the totals sheet).
•  TD – Roll up standard prize money for second & first place all to winner, but if this totals more than £40 cap it at £40 and split the rest between nearest the pin & longest drive.
• Pedro Power will donate cash on the day, this is not to be included in earnings totals for the year (Donk). All other money, including fines, to be collected by TD for Payment at AGM. Should hopefully give us a bit of shrapnel for splitting the cash at the AGM.

Our esteemed TD chipped in with  “Remind people to bring pound coins”.

As orginally communicated:

£10 Pedro Power “spot the ball” prize applies to this tournament. For those of you playing Saturday, can you print off the below picture and mark with an X where my tee-shot will finish. And a dotted line to describe its original trajectory. I will endeavour to play the shot from the exact position where the chap that looks like Bruce (but has a far better swing) is playing his from, local tee positioning allowing.

The Idiot has stepped up to the plate and offered to print off a big copy of the picture to support the society attempting to win the money. How the trajectory will be recorded for posterity has yet to be addressed – we can only hope that Idiot/Ron/WD are in the Captain’s group to capture the detail on their phones. If he’s playing with Noz and/or Bacon, then we’ll be down to relying on just the Prof’s word with no technical recording or reliable eye witness who isn’t distracted by squirrels or off having a slash, again.

In typical Pedro-fashion, the prof has compounded the complexity by suggesting a collection of additional gamble factors.
