Lots of pictures on our facebook page

2012 WHVGS Matchplay – 23rd June : Stonebridge

After the 2010 WHVGS Captain’s Matchplay, (which due to the number of entrants had to include the three-way “4-2-0” format) and the 2011 Captain’s “Forthplay”, which did not actually include any element of matchplay whatsoever, the 2012 (ex)Captain Noz had come up trumps. 8 Competitors was a perfect number, each to play three head to head nine hole matches, over three different nines at Stonebridge, to crown the WHVGS Matchplay Champion – A title well worth winning.

An entry of 8 might sound small, but the competition was brisling with WHVGS golfing talent, including: All of the past OoM winners (the Star / Flame holders), The last 5 Green Jacket winners, The top 5 Ranking Points winners of all time, The 2012 Tour leader, The current King of the Majors, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 2012 OoM – It was a quality field, make no mistake.

The WHVGS faithful were massed in the clubhouse, (including the Green Jack holder, minus the Green Jacket again – apparently it is too big for him…), when out of the blue Millers mosied in and promptly took his shirt off, standing top less in the Clubhouse. Evidently he was there of for a different society do, (yes, he had chosen to play in a different society do, on the same day, at the same time and at the same venue as the WHVGS Matchplay….). Apparently he was doing his bit for charity, although we suspect that he just wanted to get up close and personal with a few ex-villa players and tell them his views on Boško Balaban – who is probably my favourite villa player of all time. (Ask Millers, he’ll tell you all about him.)

Gamblegibbon had been active with numerous bets being placed, including: The Idiot hall backing the Proff to come last (LLL), Curt and Bruce also backed themselves for (LLL), whereas the Proff, Noz and The Pres (who had just returned from playing the 2014 Ryder Cup and Kings Course at Gleneagles during the previous two days), all backed themselves to win (WWW)

The draw was done by Nozza: Donk v the Proff / Noz v Curt in the first four ball and Bruce v Pres / TS v Bacon in the second four ball.

The Proff had his match play head on beating Donk in a tight match coming back to win 2&1, whereas Noz beat Curt (who had backed himself to lose…) more easily 3&2. In the second four, the Pres beat an unusually inconsistent Juice 4&3, with the TD beating Butters 2&1.

This set up the second round, winners v winners and losers v losers etc…: The Proff v Noz, was easily won by Noz, (5&4), who was growing in confidence, with The Pres v The TD, being won by the Pres on count back, having comfortably out driven the TD on the ninth. Donk started to fire, (after the upset of losing to Pete in the first match) beating Curt (who had backed himself to lose) 2 up. Bruce had a slightly better 9, beating a very steady Butters 2&1 – Butters had been consistent all morning, but seemed to lack the killer blows required for the Matchplay.

Lunch came, which was a very good burger and fries, although for some reason the TD couldn’t wait for it and ordered a pasty and fries as well, which came about 5 minutes before the main lunch did. Gamblegibbon was drastically trying to get more funds in, because Noz and the Pres had both backed themselves to WWW and one of them was going to and Curt was still on for his LLL… Unfortunately, Stonebridge had to put us round a 9 that we had already played, rather than getting round the full 27 holes on offer, which was blamed on the speed of Millers’ other society during the morning.

The afternoon matches were Noz v the Pres for the Matchplay title, Bacon v Curt for the “LLL” mantle (which Curt had backed himself to “win”), TD v The Proff (for 3rd / 4th) and Donk v Bruce (for 5th / 6th).

The Pres (who had generally been playing pretty well) beat Noz after the 8th, which included some debate over a yellow staked hazard and required the input from Messrs Butters and Curnips, who decided that my ball was lost in the hazard and therefore did not require an R4. Unfortunately Nozza then thinned one out of a bunker and lost it through a hedge. Bacon beat Curt on the last and Curt secured his “LLL” winnings from Gamblegibbon. In the other matches the Donk who had stormed the last 18 holes stuffed Bruce (5&4) and the Proff beat the TD – The TD once again losing a head to head Big dog, which will come as no surprise to anyone.

In summary:

1 Pres : (WWW) After honing his skills around a soggy Gleneagles, the Pres backed himself to win the Matchplay and did it the hard way, beating the current Tour leader (the TD), 2nd (Noz) and 3rd (Juice – the Green Jacket holder) on the way to victory.

2 Noz : (WWL) Came up against the Pres, (on a good day) in the final – Noz commented on the 7th tee, “Baxter is unplayable today”.

3 Pedro : (WLW) Nerves of steel to beat the Web Donk and the TD, when he came back from 3 down with 3 to play, effectively beating the TD on the head to head final hole longest drive.

4 TD : (WLL) Somehow came 4th, having lost c.70% of his matches, (the only person with a worse record was Curt, who had bet on himself to LLL), including losing head to head longest drives with both the Pres and Pedro, which is surprising given that he spends so much him in the gym – although not that surprising given that he have NEVER won a ”Big Dog”, ever.

5 Web Donk : (LWW) Came up against Pedro in fine form in the first match, then won his next 2 matches and would have scored c.45 Stapleforth points over the those 18 holes – Now sporting a beard, which needs a bit of work.

6 Juice : (LWL) Played terribly for the normally consistently high scoring Bruce, culminating in a mauling by the Donk in his final match.

7 Bacon – (LLW) Played ok(ish), did nothing wrong and would have scored well on a Stapleforth day, but his consistent “metronomic” style, is more suited to putting a steady round together rather than the rigours of Matchplay

8 Curt – (LLL) Bet on himself to lose from the outset and Gamble Gibbon took it…

The Donk took the shark and Nozza took the Big Dog. The results are below.

It was a great day, with a great format, which was well organised and explained by the current (ex)Captain – so I hope that it has been scored well by those who took part. I look forward to seeing the results of the WHVGS Minor Competition Satisfaction Survey, when the PR releases them in due course.

They are both a bit disturbing. One is of our President. One is of our Tour Director.

One seemingly depicts a lunatic, the other is the epitome of a modern successful man of business.

Much as one might expect, but for the twist.

Here is the businessman

Chaps – Of the 17 paid up 2012 WHVGS Members, I believe that we are expecting 15 to attend the 2012 AGM, the errant 2 Members who are kissing good bye to their winnings for the year and donating it to the GS are:

Coops – 2 events entered £5 won

Huge – 3 events entered £Nil won, outstanding fine £20 for not wearing a WHVGS shirt on the 2010 Course for the first round of the 2012 CJ

Everyone else should be in attendance – happy days – however if you are not, you will also be donating your winnings to the GS.

We shall aim to meet at All Bar One in Brindley Place at 5.00 – 5.30pm on Saturday 3rd December (http://www.allbarone.co.uk/allbaronebrindleyplacebirmingham/), for a couple of looseners and then we shall head off to the below par Bowling Alley in the ar5e3nd of town for the End of Year Sporting Challenge for the WHVGS Red, the holder for the last 2 consecutive years being Ronnie.

We shall then play it ear, but ultimately and not to late, end up in a dubious curry house, (much to the delight of the, current, TD) for nose bag and the 2012 AGM proper, including the prize giving**

Some things that you might want to think about are….

Who you want as Captain, TD and Players Rep

Who you want as the 2012 SPOTY

Whether or not you want to move the CJ to mid season or leave it at the end

Whether or not you want to increase the Tour competition fees and/or annual subs to put aside for the growing 2013 kitty – that should be interesting…. and for the record the current Board are split 50:50 on this

Whether or not the 2013 CJ extravaganza should be left to discretion of the 2012 CJ winner or let 2012 or 2013 Board decide?

Whether or not the Winner of the OoM should be an automatic 5th Board Member for the following year, to make Board an odd number and to remove some power from the Pres…

Not long til, Chav Bowling, dirty curry and a new WHVGS Board, voted by you the Members.

Yours, The Pres

From the President

Dear WHVGS Members – As you all know the 2010 WHVGS End of Season Social and AGM will take place on Saturday 4 December. The plan is:

17.00 – 18.00 : Meet by/under the Moose’s head for a couple of festive cheekys – “The Moose” is directly in front of Birmingham’s Council House –
[I shall probably be aiming for 16.23 from Solihull.]
18.00 – 19.00 : Move to the Sports’ Cafe on Broad Street to warm up on the American style pool tables.
19.00 – Later on : The biennial WHVGS Pool competition will take place – Further details to follow (including the rules for the event), but in summary it will be “world cup” format, with group stages followed by a knock out competition – a suitable number of tables will be reserved for the competition
Later on : Head off for a curry (Pedro will have the staff curry, obviously), the 2010 AGM and prize giving.

I assume that all but two Members will be present for the proceedings, because we have only received two written apologies for non-attendance, (one of the Members will apparently be at the Copacabana, (with Hannah), and the other is grounded), but if the rest of you could confirm that you will be attending by return it would be appreciated, so that I can firm up numbers and the format. In 2008 we had a number of late, unexplained, drop outs (Ron, Onions and Pal O), which to be honest screwed the group stage format up, so please come if you say that you are coming….

By way of warning, due to the 2010 revision of the GS financial model to build up of our funds for 2013, is unlikely that the evening will be fully subsidised this year, so you will have to put your hand in pocket at some stage during the night. [NB: It is yet to be confirmed whether or not PedroPower will be in operation prior to and/or during the Pool competition
– but I can only assume that Noz is red hot favourite followed by The Aust as the 2008 (& reigning) WHVGS Pool Champion and runner up respectively.]

Ron – Please do not forget the laundered Red.

Also, as it is now less than 2 weeks before the 2010 WHVGS AGM – I just wanted to remind everyone about the 2011 Board Membership voting process at the AGM and that those of you who have not yet paid your Membership fees for 2010 will need cough up on the night.
All 2010 elected Board positions are vacated at the AGM and a new 2011 Board is elected. There is no bar on previous Members being re-elected to the same, or a different, Board position – The positions available for re-election are:

The Captain (which includes the overall responsibility of Handicap Secretary)
Tour Director (which includes the responsibilities of Treasurer)
Player’s Representative (steadfastly representing the views and concerns of the GS Membership)

(NB – The Player’s Representative must be nominated after all other elected positions have been filled. New Board Members are not entitled to propose or vote for the Player’s Representative.)

We will also have a vote for the WHVGS 2010 SPOTY (Sports Personality of the Year) and the new WHVGS 2010 BCOT (Biggest Cheeser on Tour)

Individuals may nominate themselves, or any other Member for election and for any number of Board Positions prior to the AGM. Then at the AGM proper, the Nominations for the 2011 Board will be finalised during the AGM and will require Seconding by someone present at the AGM. Unopposed candidates are automatically elected. All WHVGS Members present at the AGM have a single vote. Where competition arises, each round of balloting eliminates the candidate with the lowest amount of votes. If candidates with least number of votes have an equal amount they are both eliminated. Where the vote is tied across the remaining candidates, the President casts the deciding vote.

So if anyone is thinking of nominating themselves or anyone else, it might be worth starting your campaign prior to the AGM, to avoid the disappointment of defeat – Will see anything like the successful 2009 “Vote Ron, Noz Out” campaign?
Not long til Moose, biennial GS pool competition, (staff) curry, 2010 prize giving and the AGM

Yours, The Pres

Here’s the latest from the President

Dear Members – There will be 9 of us battling it out for the honour of being crowned as the 2010 WHV Matchplay Champion.

Details of the format will be disclosed on Saturday… However, for the avoidance of doubt:

– Course link below.
– Breakfast will be served at 9.00
– Morning 18 – Tee off from 9.45
– Afternoon 18 – Tee off from 3.00
(So don’t commit to being home before 8pm and in fact it will probably be nearer 8.30)

Also the shirts have arrived : )

See you all on Saturday.

The Pres

An Update from the *Cough* Sponsor of the Event

Dear all,

Nearly a week away from the eagerly anticipated Captain’s Match Play championship – the first time the Society has ventured into this format at an individual level.

“So how’s it work?” I hear you ask. Well it will, but unfortunately I cannot tell you precisely how just yet, because that is absolutely dependant on the numberof entrants- which determines odds/evens; how many people have to tee off as a group, which in turn brings 3-balls into play etc.

For this reason it would be greatly appreciated if those who have not confirmed their attendance to the President – who is kindly organising the venue/tee-times on my behalf in order that it is local to most of the community – would do so ASAP.
I imagine the Pres will have a deadline for knowing this for the purpose of booking tees anyway.
Regards, Professor Ash*, Captain

Dear Members – As you are well aware – The President’s is less than 24 hours away and summarised below are the confirmatory details of the 2010 event, which in my personal opinion is the second most important event on the Tour.

Due to careful planning perfected over the last three years and incorporating feedback from the Members it includes an overly complex concept and scoring system, (which few of you will understand, but thoroughly enjoy), it incorporates a Ryder Cup style team competition, (including an 18 hole Mutliball Scramble and an 18 hole singles competition and Stapleforth Major).

The President’s will again take place at it’s spiritual home – The Warwickshire – and after lengthy negotiations I have managed to secure an excellent value for money package £62 (inc buggies, 36 holes, bacon baps, coffee and lunch) – easily the best value day out of the tour:

The President’s Classic – 12 June @ The Warwickshire

The Warwickshire Golf & Country Club
Leek Wootton
Warwick
Warwickshire
CV35 7QT

7.30 am (SHARP) – Coffee and bacon rolls on arrival and the “Ryder Cup” Team Selection Process

8.36 am – 18 holes of Championship Golf on the Earls Course : “The morning 18” – The famous “Mutliball Scramble ” (Incorporating a pairs handicap differential mechanic)

1.00pm approx – Lunch

1.56pm – 18 holes of Championship Golf on the Kings Course : The combined individual WHVRPs Major and Singles event for the Ryder cup event ( Full Stapleforth )

7.00(ish) pm – Prize giving

7.30 pm England V USA at the Warwickshire (NB: Wags, other non playing WHVers, friends and neighbours are welcome to join us for the footy – Which will be shown on a big screen in the bar)

Currently confirmed are: The Pres, Prof, Bruce, Ads, Ronnie, TD, Simon, Bacon, Campo, Noz, The Aust, Curt and The Idiot (who has kindly agreed, for the benefit of the GS and the Mutliball Scramble format to only play in the afternoon Major – because to be quite honest a Mutliball Scramble with 13 would be a debacle)

We also have two 8 seater cabs booked at 10.30 after the footy, which I believe will contain: The Pres, Prof, Bruce, Ads, TD, Bacon, Noz, The Aust, Spike, Elf, Gaff, McNeill, George, Patters and potentially Hannah

Not long the Presidents.

The Pres

PS – During breakfast PedroPower will be in operation
PPS – Throughout the day you will be given the opportunity to select a team for the WHV Alternative World Cup sweepstake.

Alongside annual subs, delayed payments and various other ‘stealth’ moves, the 2010 board introduce new ways to screw with the little guy.

Or, in other words, the President has important business to conduct…

Dear Members –

The WHVGS is in the process of commissioning a new range of WHVGS shirts. These will be “Nike Dri-Fit” shirts; incorporating Dri-Fit fabric which will help to keep you “dry” (unless it is raining) and comfortable, made from 100% polyester with a fashionable flat rib knit collar with spandex and a Nike swoosh on left sleeve, to ensure that the corporate branding will not “discredorate” the WHVGS logo on the chest. So they will be a slight up-grade from the current crop of 2007 shirts currently in circulation, that are made of low grade hessian, of which there are 3 XXLs left.
They will come in 2 colours” WHV Navy Blue” and “WHV Royal Blue” and the sizes, (which are chest measurements and in inches), are:

S: 35 – 37 / M : 37 – 41 / L : 41-44 / XL : 44 – 48 / XXL :48 – 53 / XXXL : 53 – 58

The budgeted cost to Members will be c. 20 quid per shirt, dependant on numbers ordered – I will confirm if there is a significant upward variance to this, prior to ordering.

We will buy a few for “stock”, but if you would like to pre-order any shirts please let me know the sizes and colours that you want (There is no need to reply to all….) – I for one will be buying one of each.

Lovely – Not long til the “Spittle 1968 West Germany Munich Pottery Stein with Naff Hinged Metal Lid Event”

It’s been a while since I posted, apologies from a new Dad who has to go to Brussels to get some peace and sleep.

I am pleased to be able to bring you the following message from the President:

Dear WHVGS Members – I am delighted to be able to satiate your desire to know the details of the first 2010 WHVGS Tour Event – The 2010 Gibbon.

My delight is two fold, firstly because the TD has actually organised it at a proper club, for proper golfers this year – which I know the Player’s Rep will appreciate and secondly because the first tee shot of the 2010 Tour will be the inaugural shot with the WHV Spoon donated to the WHVGS by the TD and will be presented to the 2009 WHV OoM Winner on the day – I for one will be standing well back.

The Board will drip feed you all with more WHVGS information regarding the coming 2010 Season and society developments by the mediums of both email and the website over the next few weeks – (including the incorporation of a Match Play event and a Skins event within the Tour Calendar) – as the excitement builds towards the commencement of the season proper, but in advance of that gentlemen, I give you the Gibbon…..

The 2010 Gibbon Invitational

The TD and Board would like to announced details for the opening event of the 2010 WHVGS season – The Gibbon Invitational.

This prestigious event will take place at Shirley Golf Club, (see link below), on the afternoon of Saturday 20th March, first tee off at 2pm and will once again ignite the clamour for WHVGS fame and fortune. Last year’s winner of the Gibbon (playing of 20 chuffing 6 – how things have changed…), went on to greatness, I just hope he hasn’t lost the “The Gibbon Cap” : www.shirleygolfclub.co.uk

The damage will be 45 lads per boy including green fees and entry fee although food is extra, albeit reasonably priced.

Further details will be released closer to the day although, for now, you are urged and expected to confirm your attendance by e-mailing the TD at gr012e3111@blueyonder.co.uk

Not long till somebody hopefully wrestles the prized Gibbon Cap from Nozzer’s swede.

The TD

PS – Congratulations from the WHVGS to the new fathers of Maximillian and Eden who were dropped off by the stork during the closed season – Lets hope that new found fatherhood does not impinge on your ability to get down the range and to compete in the Tour.

Web Donkey Note – If we’re playing the Gibbon at Shirley GC, surely the sweaty cap should be replaced by a Yarmulke. Oy Vey!

Web Donkey Note 2 – Noz has fallen foul of dress code, and behaviour codes, at Shirley GC before. Something about tailored shorts and too-short socks, and using a mobile anywhere except the car park, oh and eating chips in the wrong bar. Gotta wish them luck for the prestigious visit of the WHV.

From a collection of emails

30th November

It is now less than 2 weeks before the 2009 WHVGS AGM – and I just wanted to remind everyone about the Board Membership Voting process at the AGM.

All elected Board positions are vacated at the AGM and a new Board is elected. There is no bar on previous members being re-elected to the same, or a different, Board position – The positions available for re-election are:

The Captain (which includes the responsibilities of Handicap Secretary)

Tour Director (which includes the responsibilities of Treasurer)

Player’s Representative (which from what everyone can tell – has minimal responsibilities….)

(NB – The Player’s Representative must be nominated after all other elected positions have been filled. Board Members are not entitled to propose or vote for the Player’s Representative.)

Individuals may nominate (propose) themselves for or any other Member for election. Unopposed candidates are automatically elected. All WHV Golf society members have a single vote. Where competition arises, each round of balloting eliminates the candidate with the lowest amount of votes. If candidates with least votes have an equal amount they are both eliminated. Where the vote is tied across the remaining candidates, the President casts the deciding vote.

So if anyone is thinking of nominating themselves or anyone else, it might be worth starting (or continuing) your campaign prior to the AGM, to avoid the disappointment of defeat.

8th December

With the 2009 AGM looming, I thought that it would be a suitable time to send out a further update:

17.00 – 18.15 : Meet by/under the Moose’s head for a couple of festive cheekys – “The Moose” is directly in front of Birmingham’s Council House – [I shall probably be aiming for 16.23 from Solihull.]

18.15 – 18.45 : Transfer to the Venue for “The Official Sporting Event at the End Of Year Social” – [To be confirmed at a later date]

19.00 (Sharp) – 21.30 : The Official Sporting Event at the End Of Year Social – the “Red T-Shirt Competition” will take place – Further details to follow (including the rules for the event) – However, I can confirm that this year we will be unveiling a true master piece – which could well become a WHVGS legend / staple for years to come. The 2009 Captain has devised the structure of the event and I was provided with a first cut of the rules last night – which involved printing and reading 16 pages of A4, my estimation is that when the documentation to support the structure of the event is presented to the Members by the Professor on Saturday it will run to almost 30 sheets – Absolute pure genius.

(Noz – Don’t forget the laundered red!)

21.30 – Later on : More drinking in and around Birmingham Town centre

Later on : Head off for a curry (Pedro will have the staff curry obviously) and the AGM proper

The AGM proper – The Nominations for the 2010 Board will be finalised during the AGM and will require Seconding by someone present at the AGM. If you are not going to be present at the AGM you can Nominate candidates by informing me prior to 5pm on Thursday – [Any further Nominations will only be accepted in person during the AGM] – If your Nominee, gets seconded and you are absent from the AGM they will carry your vote throughout the voting process, however if they are eliminated you will not be contacted to vote for the remaining candidates.

At present we have received at least 2 nominations for each available position on the 2010 Board….

Not long til AGM shenanigans and blowing the funds, in accordance with the Financial Model, under the Moose’s swede and on staff curry.

10th December

Dear Members – Advance nominations for the 2010 Board are now closed – Currently we have at least 3 Nominations for each position… The nomination process will re-open at the 2009 AGM as will the official Vote for the 2009 WHVGS SPOTY.

Not long since, (in fact 10 minutes since), printing and binding 5 copies of a 32 page Professor Ash generated document, detailing (amongst other things) the “Governance” and the “Rules” for The Official Sporting Event at the End Of Year Social.

Not long since, (in fact 5 minutes since), printing and binding 1 copy of the current Almanac – which is now a 76 page tomb.

Not long til Moose and shenanigans

In which a little boy from Knowle sees all of his dreams come true

There was a little boy called Noz. Noz’s greatest dream was to vanquish his friends in a game called golf. He had been plotting and scheming for many months how to win the coveted Green Jacket and the mystery treasure that would await him for topping the Order of Merit.

And so it came to pass that he faced his greatest challenge – Sunday morning of the Claret Jug, playing his nearest rivals, needing to concentrate on a course none of the players had ever seen, alleged to contain horrors such as temporary greens and many holes favouring the evil Troll Aust, who had cleverly managed to make sure he had one of his mighty sleeps the night before the special day.

But little Noz needn’t have worried, his golf remained solid – as he admitted to his playing partners, he now felt like a proper golfer. Whilst he missed the nostalgic days of getting 4 points for scoring par on a short hole, he was loving his Pro V1X’s and all the adulation from his peers.

Playing alongside a rag tag mob of colleagues and enemies, Noz remained suspiciously quiet. Where was the banter and persecution of his #1 rival, the poor Web Donkey? Where was the non-stop chatter with the ever-mercurial Tour Director? How could he not have Nozzed on for hours about the bizarro performance of the Cracker Fountain Kiss Machine Millers the previous night?

Little Noz didn’t do any of this, he let his golf speak for itself. Having witnessed a similar display of magical dreams coming true for the similarly obsessed President in the final group of the previous Jug, the WD knew his fate was not to win the title, and Noz didn’t begin to believe until, after 5 or 6 pars in a row, he watched his closest rival stuff one in the lake on the challenge that was the nearest the pin. At this point, his quiet dignity began to slip a little and the chirping that had threatened the bonhomie of the group after Noz won the coveted Hulk a few holes previously began in earnest. He had knocked one inside of poor bereft titleless, spot prizeless Bacon and was beginning to believe he would soon be crowned the King of WHV Land for the next year. No matter that the WD knocked his provisional to 2 feet, or that Millers pulled out 2 miraculous birdies on the way in, little Noz was going to win.

The quiet dignity slipped and the old Noz began to appear through the cracks. He was understandably excited, but surely this didn’t allow him to go tramping round the course bellowing at other groups whilst his goodly playing partners were in the address position?

Also, it wasn’t until he’d parred the 16th that we told him that every point he was scoring was cutting his playing handicap for the next year. Lo and behold, little Noz, going for the round of his life, came home 7 and 7, blob and blob. Normal golfers would accept this as a little suspicious, but they were tough holes, Noz had already won by 10 shots and surely the man who persecuted another player from the 12th hole of the Amy Austin under suspicion of nursing his score home 7 and 7 having recorded 35 points on the mighty Nicklaus track would never consider committing the same crime he accuses others of?

I will leave my readers to draw their own conclusions. Suffice to say, Little Noz rode home in his carriage that night to show his Queen that he had indeed won the lot and that the Wedding did not need to be called off. Plus he had an extra £105 in his pocket to go towards the grand ball he would be funding as King of WHV.

The End

PS – As I am shortly heading off to Barcelona for a metering conference, it will not be until Friday that I get much chance to post the cards from the weekend. I will make sure that I get my Amy Austin report out on time, and publish some summaries of the Jug Scores, but I want my WHV Open coverage to be exceptional, and I have some good photos and videos to share. I also hear that the masterclass is fantastic.

Kudos to the President for such a good weekend, well done to Noz for all his glorious winnings and for getting himself down from 26 to somewhere near 15 in a single season (I doubt it will stop him chirruping about other players having false handicaps, but hey, he’s never happy if everything is good and he’s not winning), and well done to Ron – his flurry of birdies may have resulted in a Runners Up spot in the Jug, but that also means he’ll be off +1 for the 2010 tour.
