Handicap Shenanigans

After a great team contest at the President’s Classic, where the Captain’s low men prevailed over the President’s bandits to an almost embarrassing degree – time to look at the handicap changes from the Stapleforth event.

Millers, as winner, drops to 14. That’s 14 Paul, just so you know and fail to remember at the next event.

And now for the bad news. The TD played some great golf, but insists on calling a blob if he has a bad shot – so only carded a 20, and that means he’s up a shot to 22. This is the man who hit drive and 3 iron to four feet on stroke index 1 yesterday.

The worst news of all is Noz – he was unplayable yesterday morning, I was two over gross, with a blob, and lost 5&4 to a man playing off 21 who shot 4 over gross for nine holes. He was playing to single figures in the matchplay (when it can’t affect his handicap), but the apparently the wheels came off and he shot 27 in the afternoon – nine over for his 21 handicap, and that means he’s now up to 22, with just a couple of events to go before the Jug weekend.

Many of you will have heard Noz declare that this year is a Noz Jug year – he wants to take us back to Portugal – and as with previous Jug years, he’s trundling along and the handicap is drifting up. If we see another 40-40-40 weekend in Wales as we did a couple of years ago, eyebrows must surely be arched. At the same time, he also said he has no interest in the OoM, it is all about the Jug and the Hulk.

Having said all of that, Noz put on a great Portugal trip, so perhaps this convenient series of events wouldn’t be terrible…

Everyone else is as they were. The link to the current handicaps is here
